Reflection

The definition of sustainability is the capacity to endure. In ecology, the word sustainability describes how biological systems remain diverse and productive over time. For humans, it is the potential for long-term maintenance of well-being, which in turn depends on the maintenance of the natural world and natural resources. To achieve sustainable development, the three sectors need to come together. The economic, socio-political, and environmental sectors are all critically important and interdependent. Progress will require technology systems thinking concepts including multidisciplinary and trans-disciplinary research across all three sectors. This proves difficult if major governments fail to support it.

Working on these projects reinforced why I am most passionate about
SDG 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learn for all and
SDG 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
I have experienced gender inequality first hand and
had to work hard to obtain a higher education.
That is why I
am interested in building socially, ecologically, and economically sustainable communities and in transforming systems of teaching,
learning and leadership.
I want to see equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research,
believing that together we can transform society for the better.
I believe that education will help not only me but also help other people understand the complexity of the world around them.
I am blessed to be able to continue to transform as my story unfolds.
